The Pure Clown
The pure clown can be described easiest in comparison to the character clown. Whereas the character clown reflects to the audience the human attitude of failure, there is no failure at all for the pure clown; i.e. the pure clown does not experience human failure because he moves outside the limits of intention and judgement. Of course the pure clown falls on his nose - literally! The consequences, however, are quite different. The pure clown screams, whines, swears, wails, moans; and this lamentation ends in a most wondrous concert of whining and moaning. And once it is over, it is all gone and forgotten. The pure clown will never ever learn anything from all his downfalls and stumble again at the next occasion; however, his naive ability to live here and now protects him from the self-consuming sense of flop and failure.
The pure clown always remains a brilliant jester and when we get involved in his game, he will lead us to a world free of everyday complications and distress. The pure clown's world is a world of playing, fantasy, and wonder.
