How to Direct Your Energy and Feel Physical Strength
I've often met people who complain that they have too little or no energy, that they feel listless and lack strength. In my work with people,
I've discovered that their energy isn't simply gone. It's just misdirected. In this case, it turns against them, because
We don't fail because of too little energy, but because of too much.
I, too, have experienced more than once in my own life how one can fail because of misdirected energy. This has made me realize that we don't actually suffer from too little energy, but rather from too much. Excessive self-expectations and judgments, complaints, and accusations are also energy. And we somehow don't seem to know how to channel and direct our abundant energy constructively. On the contrary: we become exhausted. Or we attack. In this way, we lose energy very quickly. Even an argument in a relationship temporarily drains our energy. Of course, we can also numb ourselves by consuming nicotine, alcohol, drugs, sex, and yes, even through work. Through a lot of it. But the energy always swells within us, in the worst case as hatred or despair.
I believe we should choose: Do we channel the energy in the wrong direction, which can eventually lead to illness, or do we choose to expand our energy potential and transform our intense energy accumulation?
A personal experience comes to mind.
I remember one day on vacation when I woke up in the morning with a terrible cramp and a stabbing pain in my lower back. In this situation, I realized that everything now depends on the decision I make in that moment.
I knew I had two options:
Either a herniated disc, or working with the tension in my back, no matter where it took me. I then gently directed my breath to the point of greatest pain. I focused my awareness on the spot where I perceived the core of the tension. After the initial fear subsided, I felt a collection of energy instead of the tension. I could clearly distinguish how the option of strength or illness depended on the direction in which this energy would discharge. It would either discharge inward, and thus against me, or it would discharge outward. I used my conscious breath, accompanied by concentrated body movements, to get into deeper contact with the energy. Gradually, the feeling of rigidity dissolved. Instead, I felt an intense pulsation. By tuning into the vibration of the energy, the pulse expanded. With the help of conscious breathing, I was able to move the energy accumulation further and further outward until I felt as if I were perceiving an energetic protrusion at the point where my lower back was. By directing the entire energy accumulation into this protrusion, practically pushing it, I formed a kind of energy tail. It protruded from my lower back like a long energetic extension. In an instant, the tension was completely dissolved.
Since then, I have been able to connect with this energy in my lower back at any time. I now feel and experience myself with my energetic dinosaur tail, as I now call it. The dinosaur tail strengthens me. If I want, I can support myself on it like a third leg. The dinosaur tail has now become an integral part of my energy work with clowns. Since my clown students are not surprised by this kind of energy formation, it is easy for them to feel and strengthen their lower back strength in this way.
If you want, you can try it out for yourself:
Simply place your hand on your lower back. This is the spot you usually only discover when you get "stung by the witch." This region of our body is often very weak and sometimes even tense. It's precisely the spot where a hollow back often develops. This particular spot on the lower back is particularly important. So, it's about directing our awareness to this exact spot and thereby directing and strengthening our energy. This isn't really about muscle exercises or sit-ups, because if there's no awareness in this part of the body, these exercises can actually be harmful.
So start by simply placing your hand on this spot on your lower back.
And then, through conscious breathing, begin to build energy precisely at this point in the lower back. I sometimes also say:
Breathe into your back
Sure, you can only breathe into your lungs. But the point here is to direct our energy through conscious breathing by "breathing into" the affected area. If that's still difficult for you, you can simply lie on your back on the floor and try to arch your lower back into the floor. You can also try the same thing by leaning against a wall. This will help you learn to feel your back in that spot. And then try achieving the same physical sensation through conscious breathing. Over time, you will notice how your energy in your back becomes stronger and how your back becomes more conscious.
If you turn around right now and look closely, you can not only feel it, but even see it! Your dinosaur tail!
Energy in your back that makes you strong.
And over time, you can feel your energy expanding from your lower back into the room. This is how you learn to guide and direct your energy.
The famous "lumbago," by the way, is nothing other than energy that has been channeled in the wrong direction: inward instead of outward.
